Vertigo and vestibular physiotherapy in NW Calgary
Dizziness, spinning, or feeling unsteady on your feet can make ordinary days hard work. Vestibular physiotherapy looks for the cause, whether it is the inner ear, the neck or how your eyes and balance systems work together, and treats it with targeted movements and exercises. At Crowchild Physiotherapy in Brentwood Village you can book directly, without a referral, seven days a week.
Open 7 days a week, weekdays until 7 pm
What dizziness physiotherapy can help with
- BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo): brief spinning when you roll over in bed, look up or bend down
- Vestibular neuritis and labyrinthitis: lingering dizziness and unsteadiness after an inner-ear infection
- Dizziness after a concussion or car accident, including neck-related (cervicogenic) dizziness
- Balance problems and a fear of falling, at any age
- Motion sensitivity in busy places, scrolling screens or car rides
If your dizziness came on suddenly with a severe headache, weakness, numbness, slurred speech or changes in vision, call 911 or go to the emergency department first.

How we treat dizziness and vertigo

Exercises that retrain how your brain uses signals from the inner ear, eyes and body to keep you steady.

Progressive standing, walking and turning drills, so you feel safe on stairs, curbs and uneven ground.

Hands-on treatment for the neck when stiffness or injury there is feeding the dizziness.

Gaze stability work that reduces the blur and nausea that come with moving your head.
For BPPV, your physiotherapist uses repositioning manoeuvres (such as the Epley manoeuvre) to move the loose inner-ear crystals back where they belong. Your physiotherapist will tell you what to expect for your situation.
What happens at your first visit
Your physiotherapist asks when the dizziness started, what triggers it and how long it lasts, then checks your eye movements, balance, neck and the positional tests for BPPV. You leave with an explanation of what is going on, a plan and exercises to start at home. Allow up to an hour for your first visit; you complete a short intake form at the clinic when you arrive.
Insurance and direct billing
We bill most benefit plans directly, and dizziness after a car accident or workplace injury is billed to your auto insurer or to WCB.
