What a session involves

Your clinician reviews your health history and checks whether acupuncture suits you. Needles are placed and usually left for 10 to 20 minutes while you rest. Most people feel a dull ache or warmth at the point rather than pain. Afterwards you may feel relaxed or a little tired; mild soreness or small bruises can occur and settle on their own. Tell us if you are pregnant, take blood thinners, have a bleeding disorder or a pacemaker before your first session.

Questions about acupuncture

Anything else? Send us a request and the front desk will get back to you. Open 7 days a week, weekdays until 7 pm.

Does acupuncture hurt?
The needles are much finer than injection needles. You may feel a brief pinch, then a dull ache or tingling, which is normal.
Is acupuncture the same as dry needling?
They use similar needles. Dry needling targets tight bands in muscles based on anatomy; acupuncture uses defined points. Your clinician explains which they are using and why.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the problem. Your clinician reviews progress after the first few sessions and only continues if it is helping.
